The first AfriLang AI Conference, organised by Sunbird in Kampala, explored themes of African NLP and strategies for strengthening localised AI through cross-institutional collaboration.
MCAAI participated in both paper presentation tracks and discussion panels, sharing findings from our language technology research programme. We look forward to seeing more locally-organised AI conferences in Africa and will continue to play an active role in building this regional ecosystem.
